It is not good when our diary entry shows pumpkin vines in the compost bin. We have some problems in the pumpkin patch. Yesterday we found some rotting spots on the mains on the 1998 Jutras and the 2145 McMullen. We scrapped the spot on Jutras , sprayed it with xerotol, covered it with a mini plastic tent to keep it dry. The McMullen had a good six inches of rot on the main so Pete cut that chunk out. We have removed all the vines behind the rot as they will not be doing anything for the pumpkin.so we have maybe 2/3 of the McMullen plant left. We may end up doing the same on the Jutras but for now there is still some of the main vine left after scraping the oft area. We were really hoping to beat that darn fusarium with all our extra work and products this season. The 2230 Wallace plant is still looking good and the main is AOK.
