Definitely let it go for now to make sure others grow in after. If you get a stubby or complete no grower you can fill in with that first secondary. I personally keep them all unless I get a "back main" which I recall grows right off the first few inches of the stump.

My default logic is that if it ain't broke dont fix it. But if the plant slows down or wilts, then maybe erring on the side of more pruning would be worth a try (in terms of focusing the limited resources)?
There's probably nothing wrong with leaving it.
