You're so keyed in to the issues. I've seen the same thing, thd soil biology can deplete or enhance nitrogen greatly at a whim. I suspect phosphorus deficiency can be difficult to spot also. It doesnt cause chlorosis which is the number one thing people note. There are symptoms, but if you're only looking for chlorosis you wont see the symptoms. I would say more... but that's enough from me.

The goal is to continually be reading the plant. This is often what can separate newer growers from others who have been growing for a number of years. The newer grower will catch problems after they have develop where a longer term grower can catch them earlier. My hope is that my diary entries help to speed up the learning curve of all growers.
