My handwriting is terrible - sorry. Yah, your pics sometimes are in the Photo Gallery and uncommentable, so I consider blurting it out here, lol. I needed a good laff and that was it, and it is universally a great idea for a Halloween costume...especially if it's cold. Matching hat, footies and mittens, next time, lol---eg

Maurice, most drip line systems will require some level of pressure to work properly and there is a good chance you won't be able to achieve that pressure by gravity alone. Do you have electricity at your patch?

No I am considering a solar powered pump also I am slightly worried my roof will fall in the 45 km/ph winds

I know you mentioned other places you were previously planning on growing. Do you have anywhere you can grow that has electricity and water?

How many feet is it, are it, lol, from the nearest power and water source(s)? If you don't mind my asking---eg

Are you sure you don't have anywhere you can grow with access to water and electricity? It will be difficult without those things.

3000 ft from water and electricity??? They will go in a huge shock if the greenhouse wont be warmed and rain water is not enough unless it constantly rains

Just a thought - some form of water storage, a conical funnel(s) (no kidding, lol) piped into about 10 55-gallon barrels and then the rainwater could be saved for times when it is not raining for long periods. Ma Nature has a way of taking care of Her own. Jeez, am I an environMENTAList, now? Ha ha - Solar everything else though sounds optimistic and good. We all need to use the Sun more, as it is free; It's just the initial costs to harness it...that suck! Keep after it. eg

I had to search waaaaaaaaaaaaayyy back to find my tank farm and after going to 2004 and practically giving up...it was in 2018 where there was I guess the only picture of it, from my no-Diary year 2014 when I grew Ms. Warty. Dang, and yet, we get to see the 343 Gerry again and my Tank Farm - in the backgound---Hey, eyes over there! She's MiNe! I was thinking two things - rain gutters from a collector as big as you want, connected to the barrels as shown. Orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...your 1000-liter water tank filled at your home and then hauled on over, safely, I hope. For the work involved to re-create the wheel, you could buy one! Keep after it, though---eg https://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=287108

Just my opinion, Your idea to catch rain with a tarp and container will work Maurice(assuming this is your plan) Simple and cheap. If you have a gravity fed system you only need roughly 2 psi of water so about 5 ft in elevation. That being said, this is just your "static" pressure. Correctly done, you need the distance of supply line & drip tape, number of emitters, and the flow of said emitters to assess your dynamic flow. What pressure is at end of line when its running is most important, I think anyway. Don't want emitters running at all different % :-/

My Tank Farm is in the background, to the left, if you can briefly stop admiring my 343-pound Ms. Warty pumpkin, lol. Well, gutters seem to be relatively cheap for the vinyl ones at Home Depot. I'm gonna look for them for something else, and covers for my own house's gutters. Good Luck--eg

I believe it was a genetic anomaly, like, perhaps something in its genetics combined with its environment caused it, butt I'm no geneticist and I only grew the seed from it once. I probably still could, even now, lol. It is hit or miss for my others this week, anyway. Hmmm... maybe. It grew lemon-yellow. I've thought about growing it to see if the wartiness carried on; It certainly was unique. A monster in its own right. eric g
