Vertical AND horizontal, mind you! Not sure how Big Rico would divide that into two pics then, because the vertical depth of the samples X the horizontal pattern of the multiple samples taken are usually mixed to give one representative soil sample. Splitting that into horizontal and vertical contributions, well, it is possible, but expensive...so many soil samples for individual tests.

The comments do remain. You just have to access them via the Message Board instead of from the Diary.
