In the afternoon sun, I got up, made my vine burying mix and got to work. I haven't had much time for vine maintenance the past week, work and mother's day took priority so today was a catch up day.

Unfortunately I found a real big crack in the main about 4.5 feet from the vine tip, 1 foot behind where I had just pollinated my female flower. This resulted in a surgery to remove all that growth and the pollinated female. A secondary will take over as the new main.

What I hadn't shared before now, is about 6 days ago my main stopped growing. It showed signs of too much nitrogen at the vine tips, and a few days later started growing like normal after a targeted foliar spray and a drench. The rest of the plant was growing normal during the main growth stoppage.

I suspect the sudden stoppage in growth was actually this crack having formed and had gone unnoticed.

Bummer of an ending to today, but there's still 130 days until my local weigh off.
