Welp the "test" seed popped but the resulting sprout looks like this. Being my first year trying to grow giants I was wondering if the pros might have any opinion as to what may have caused this* Too wet* Too rich* It's in a 1 gallon pot to start once sprouted in paper towel. Miracle gro organic potting mix as soil (on hand, not first choice). Good thing I bought a lotta extras thus far ;-)

1 week update- My trial of growing a seed to seedling is complete. The challenged sprout grew nicely so good to note no fret with initial sprout appearance. Ty Joe Adkins for the extra seeds!

More for my own reference but roots shown here in 1 gallon pot size of soil with one week of growth since sprouting. There was about an inch and a half of bottom soil not patch worked with roots.

Homemade pumpkin food. So I was able to get ph up to 6.5 after it has sat at 3.9 while fermenting for 4 months. I got it to the 6.5 ph after adding potassium bicarbonate but a week later it reads this. Anyone know why it went back down? Ingredients: harvested seaweed, bat guano, feather meal, dried chicken poop, bone meal, alfalfa meal, potash sulfate and potash magnese sulfate, brown sugar, cellulase, xylanase, and beta glucanase, well water.

At the end of August I filled a 30 gallon tote to the top with leaves, grass, cardboard, garden scraps, a dozen eggshells, and a gallon of soil. I added about 30 worms I dug up(only red wigglers survived), drilled some holes in top and stuck it in my kitchen pantry. This is first check. Looks fine, plenty of evidenced cocoons too!(Yellow/amber circles) Lots of leachate too! There are many many many more than the 30 worms which you can't see but they are there!

What do I do? So the seed pushing straight up through soil is 2501 Bernstrom. First to show after 2.5 days. I didn't think this one would as it was hollow upon pinching it but what do I know. Anyway, is this normal with coating still attached? What should I do at this point, remove plastic and put under light? Should I try to remove coating at this point? Sounded crazy to me but it worked on my helmet head tomato seeds, should I spit on it? :-/Thank you!

Slightly unorthodox but it has always worked when I germinated my vegetable seeds. Watch these pumpkin seeds pop baby! So....I soaked 6 seeds in a cup of warm water, a drop of vitazyme, and a few drops of peroxide for 7 hours. and I sandpapered the edges of the darker seeds only, it was about 3 each. I planted each seed in 1 gallon pots of seedling mix, potting mix, worm castings, mykos and azos. I hope to plant 4 in ground with 2 final choices.

So I guess I'm only keeping the 2501? Seed shell came off and I still can't believe this plant. The seed was hollow, I could squish it with my fingers. I was p*ssed I spent the money but now wow. By end of day today the cotyledons are almost to perimeter of 1 gallon pot, this pic was earlier. All others had all day to open up better, none did. What's your opinion? Much appreciated guys and gals

First ever megablossom, I think! This is the 9.44lb sutherland cross. It's much bigger than the other flowers I found around it. Quick question tho, is this normal for a foot high plant? Also these plants sprouted 3/26, and they are in a 1 gallon pots. I was hoping to plant out around week before June 1st so I planted 8 weeks back. Will I have to re-pot out of 1 gallon into something larger as I still have another month to go? Only 3 weeks in and prolly at least 4-5 more to go before I can safely put in ground. Thanks

I'm on a roll! Heating pad thermostat silver bullet was sitting on table and I only realized this when my plants went praying to the heavens with leaves stretched straight up wondering what they had done to be tortured with lava beneath their feet/roots. Hope they be ok, I apologized repeatedly and gave them a treat. I'm not trying to buy their forgiveness but I hope it works ;-)

So I got one of those "suckers" growing near my first ever mega bloom 1st truss(big deal for me) and I want to pluck it to get it out of way. But ...the stem looks like it is already starting to split internally(looks like stem is stuffed with 2 straws) so do I just let this sucker become 2nd stem? I'll have to sleep on this one
