Even though you said this didn't come from your wife's cooking supplies,,,, I have a feeling it did! lol It's probably because I always get caught using my wife's! haha

Solarization is great for eliminating weeds and even disease in the soil, I would highly recommend it. Only downside for those of us not in a hot climate is that it takes the mid-summer heat to be effective, so it would be ideal for a location you were not growing that year.
