Subject: Is it ok to let sprinklers get (hit) pumpkin ?

So i'm running micro sprinklers under leaf & some spray hits pumpkin , it that ok ? the area up to and around pumpkin is getting soaked ! Should spray be kept a couple feet away ? should it be kept dry a few feet away from pumpkin ? Thanks!!!

They can handle some daily water on them. If you have low humidity youll be ok.

When they are growing fast they are more immune to infection. When they slow down in the fall keeping them totally dry will prevent skin and stem rots. But high humidity could also be a problem... even if they are dry.

We have low humidity here so the plant dries out fast as soon as my misting system goes off.ive grown pumpkins that got daily water on them that never got rot anywhere hence my 'they can handle getting wet" claim.

Believe that Brandon has it backwards as to when plants/pumpkin become most susceptible to disease. During a presentation to our club by one of the top plant pathologist in the country it was made clear that the stress from the fruit sink taking over is when most diseases start posing a risk and when a good fungicide program is a must.
