I am finding in my vast experience that whatever side of a fruit is 'disadvantaged from the vine or stem' will grow slower in that UNfed area than the rest of the fruit. Respect to Andy Wolf for mentioning it elsewhere that fruit grown on the end of a cut vine are susceptible, and I concur. Perhaps a worry about a place ON a fruit can be alleviated by selectively cutting a stem or vine in relation TO the splitting area; Splitting on top? Cut the top-only of the vine or stem. On the side? On that side, etc. That weigh, the whole fruit can still prosper but the offending area is mitigated. I've seen this phenomena on at least 3 fruits o' mine this year. Just an idea that has SOME wizdum to it, lol---eric g PS---In always-re-reading, lol, I dunno what to try with the crack being on the blossom end, lol. This is maybe where 'plant cleanup' is par for the course. Even a 'crop skeleton' is fascinating! eg

How close to the blossom is this crack? The blossom end is not visible. What to do really depends on that information, if it is abutting the blossom end you want to cut it and stop all growth, it could easily penetrate. If it is more distant from the blossom and more of a seam crack as it appears then it can be treated watched and hopefully scar up. As you know you can not afford any split progression if the split abuts the blossom end. Honestly through it looks pretty big regardless and at 4 days left you are likely better off cutting it from the vine, treating the split to prevent rot and stopping all growth.

Considering this is what the mom looked like I wouldn't be too worried. https://tools.pumpkinfanatic.com/fruitImages.php?PN=2181%20Masters%202025

Nick's right, thats one of MANY more to come and they will run from the blossom, around the pumpkin, and to the stem. Now in my experience you worry more about stem end at this stage in the grow. It will begin to heal as it continues to grow around the kin.
