I've seen the results first hand and that first 20 days scared me but after that just like you said, the growth curve went much longer!
Have you heard of more splits because of product? I haven't but have heard of a few which means nothing. To bad we can't get 100 giants with all the same care and document the splits and curve of each fruit.
That being said, I will be using it again.

So.Cal.Grower- I do not think splits would increase mainly because there are essentially more cells so if anything there may be a slight shift to reduced splitting. However, I would say that this would also not likely have a major impact on reducing splits either. The intention is to increase cells in all areas of the pumpkin and not just one area. Also, the slower growth curve in the early part of the season should help build structural integrity.

I get fresh hormones each spring that should be good until about October/November assuming not diluted in water. Once mixed with water the shelf-life is only about 6 hours max. This does not mean the product would do harm, essentially the concentration goes down as the hormone breaks down so it becomes less effective. The key is the proper concentration applied at the proper time. The challenge with hormones in general is the typically small application window to apply to achieve maximum effectiveness.
