I would look at the below two links, the purpose being a POSSIBLE DVD on How to Grow BGs (unsure of availability) and also latching onto a Top Grower of BGs to begin with; To be a millionaire, do as a millionaire does, lol. That is, if they'd just tell us. Well, this is pretty close. ALSO, you can use the Site Search window at the top right of your screen and on the Home Page, where there are available HUNDREDS of Diary entries of ANY topic, especially BGs and the like for your perusal in the meantime. PS---Search is disabled during auctions and for a few hours? after. You could look at ANY BG Grower's Diary and follow what they did to get that 389 or whatever.

I dunno if or how to email growers anymore, (no coaching needed) and I'd figure it out butt

They like warmer temps. I think they would appreciate monitoring soil moisture. I think keeping really ideal soil moisture levels, and maybe EC monitoring too, would give the best results. I didnt do this, and I only got average results. They'll grow for 70-80 days. I grew mine on a scale and its growth curve was maybe around 3/4 to 2/3 the growth period of a pumpkin. But perhaps there are other superior genetics out there that will grow the fruit longer. My "blossomdown" diary last year was mostly devoted to growing a 202 lb bushel gourd. I think you/ most people/ can probably do better than that!

That's interesting, thank you. I was actually thinking BG's would have a longer growing season because of the curing of the gourd.

I agree, A longer season would definitely help with curing the gourd. I have never had much luck with curing them whole. They always get cracks and leak everywhere. Long gourds and other types of bottle gourds seem to cure much better for me,without any hassles. Steve Connolly does a great job with photos in his diary. I know he buries his vines at the nodes, and gets them to root just like the pumpkins, I just let my plants run wild. LOL
