Its the rollers. Think how lasagna gets extruded from a machine. Pumpkin seeds can't handle it. Tomato seeds can. Anyhow germinate the cracked/ broken ones via the paper towel method with some dilute hydrogen peroxide to keep things sterile or just hope for the best. They will be more prone to rot but with proper care they may all grow.
