Question: Since all biological soil life has been killed in this process (I assume), do you add any sort of beneficial biology back in the spring?

Yes we will pile in all the good bacteria

It looks warm enough in there to plant now. It must be hard to resist. The small market farmers say lettuce is profitable... You know if you grew a WR after growing lettuce then we'd all copy you... I know I would, ha.

Wow, way cool!! , thats how you get it done , out of curiosity , how deep do they steam the soil and how long do they keep the temps up ? to get the soil sterilized

Typically the sheets are filled with steam for about 6 hours. Sterilised depth varies according to your soil. Our soil would be sterilised to 8 or 9 inches at least. Sterilising your soil also mends your soil. It joins the colloids back together in a process called flocculution. It’s a very neat process.

Very nicr. What temp does the soil eventually reach in this process. Are the weed seeds all killed to.

Just curious with the cost of the sterilising process would it be worth considering a new batch of media

So first of all Steve. Yes all the weeds seeds are killed but I can’t remember what the temperature gets to. Dale. Changing our soil to get what we want would be way more expensive

Ok maybe the raw materials over there are more expensive than here
