What is netting, and what does it indicate? What is a Dill ring and what does it indicate?

Netting or canteloping is normal is some strains. To me it is an indication of growth, like a stretch mark on the pumpkin's skin.
A Dill ring is indicative of a thinning of the pumpkin wall or a crack in the pumpkin wall. It is not a good thing. Often you can get a split through to the cavity at a Dill Ring. When you cut through a Dill ring (think autopsy) it looks like a crack in the meat of the pumpkin from the inside out. There are lots of pictures of dill rings on this site.
