Farming- a bunch of catastrophies that result in a lifestyle

I have noticed on 'the egg' that his stem by the pumpkin is a deep deep orange. Its not soft, but this morning there is a hair line crack about 1" running lengthwise with stem, and it had a droplet of water just above the hairline crack. I made to VERY shallow cross cuts above and below the hairline crack and brushed sulfer into the whole area. Does the deep orange color indicate a potential crack? The deep orange color started out very small and has grown to cover more surface area of the stem. There is no softness such as with rot, but the orange area is very shiny.
I also noticed this morning on 'Finally C' some little tiny nick like, barely scratches around her stem end on the pumpkin its self. They wernt weeping, but I brushed sulfer all around her where they are.
