Warm blanket couldn't hurt on a chilly night.....unless its real heavy and u get a storm which blows said blanket off and snaps it off the main....

Ha ha. Haven't had a night above 60 here yet this year. Were lucky if it gets above 75 in the day time.

It wouldn't hurt to cover with a quilt and a tarp over that.
When you uncover in the morning, you will feel a rush of warm air in your face from the pumpkin.

Same here Captain, I'd like the overnight temp to be near 60...despite our nice days of 75-80.

North and Capt. How much does the cold nights affect your growth rate of your pumpkins?

I'm close to the beach and cover mine every night with a big fat comforter. Its in the mid to high 50's every night.
It can't hurt, right ;)

When it is 50 degrees at night like tonight I leave the pumpkins uncovered, open up the windows and get a good nights sleep.

Same here Chris...a West Coast thing I guess eh?
Subwaypanther...I guess the young pumpkins dont mind it much but as they get bigger, I'll cover them in blankets at night in September. We have a long and slow growing season here in the Pacific Northwest.

10 - 13 degrees C or 50 - 60 degrees F are normal night time temps for us during this time of the year. We just cover the pumpkins with a blanket instead of a sheet.
Good luck. Jane & Phil

My temps are like Captain 97, just on an island further west. I'd kill to get a night time temp above 60. Last night was 49 and that is about all we get. I use blue tarp covered hoop houses over the kins with small heaters (200 watts) to try and keep them warm.
