had two pumpkins pollinated early in july. started culling males and pruning plant to grow big. unfortunately the two fruit i set aborted about a week and a half ago.I finally have new fruit about to open but will be lucky if the one male flower left on my plant will open in time. can I defy nature to any degree in this situation? do males have pollen available prior to opening? just looking for some crazy ideas you folks may have tried if ever in my situation. I do have some small males kicking around but really only one that may be the miracle.. appreciate any feed back. thanks

You can use pollen from any Cucurbita Maxima. So if you or someone near you has any buttercup, hubbarb, or pink banana or big max etc. That would work. Also you could use pollen from a Cucurbita moschata this would make what you call an interspecific cross. A few moschata types are butternut and long island cheese. The seeds that you produced from these crosses would be wacky. But It would not affect the pumpkin you are trying to grow. It would still be 100% Atlantic Giant.
