If you don't mind, tell me which you'd pick.
On the last and strongest secondary (best one close to main break) I have a very fast and tall growing one (11 DAP @ 34CC), but it has a split vine at the stem and every morning it looks like a faucet was turned on to the ground as the stem\vine leaks. It dries through out the day and does each night.
On 2nd to last secondary, I have a slower grower (10 DAP @ 26CC), don't like the shape as much, but it's vine is very well intact.
Need to pick one very soon, and cannot decide... risk with the faster tall one on last secondary trained as new main, or go with the slow one off a further back and weaker secondary but no issues?
Thanks

the leaker scares me, I'd wait a week or two I've lost 30 day old pumpkins.

If I had to choose one now I would pick the healthier one of the two. But, if it were me I would try to keep both until one establishes itself as a clearer favorite. At such little sizes and ages I doubt waiting at least a few weeks would make that much of a difference in the end in relation to the ultimate final sizes. If they are on different secondary vines, then waiting is even less of an issue. I've learned years ago to let things like this play out for awhile. For example, more than once in the distant past I would cut one thinking it wouldn't measure up all that well, just to have the other one abort on me days later. The worst feeling is having nothing in the end.

It sounds like each one has it's up and downs. I would try to get the vine to stop leaking then make a decision. If you can't then go with the slower one. It should pick up speed when the other is gone.

Hey Luke, in all honesty, with the ups and downs of the past couple of seasons for you....I'd leave them both on and try and grow 2 x 500 lbers on the same plant.
If one craps the bed, you will still have the other...and if they both continue to grow....good for you!!
Best luck bud/Glenn

Thanks, I will keep waiting to see and that idea is tempting Glenn. My mo-in-law suggested that too. I would like to go big this year so not sure.
The vine split is healing over, and the the "faucet" puddle was minimal this morning from the stem\vine conjunction. I am going to leave the clear gel globs alone and see if it forms a scar for me. If not, I'll still have the smaller backup.

In my opinion, if you can get the leaker to stop there seems to be lots of energy coming to that fruit. I,d go with the leaker. Jim

Luke, I have 1 that was similar and it seems to have taken off and has almost healed. It took till day 15. Looked as if it were going to rot, but I cleaned it and sulfured a few times and looks good. I am all in with this 1.

Thanks again!
Side question, if some bury vine ends with success after they cut them, can I rub some dirt in the hole\rotten area? Got home today and leaking again... fan and Captan won't do the trick.
