looking for some suggestions on split main vine just out from stump. I have a fan on it and applied Captan. Would it be wise to pull the split back together with zip ties once it dries?

I'd try to Build some kind of structure over it to keep the rain off it to keep it dry=maybe a plastic chair

Had the same thing last year. Like cojoe said, keep it dry and I put sulfer on mine in addition to keeping it dry..worked great. I wouldn't bind it too aweful tight..could creat more problems during growth. Good luck!!

I would just try to keep it dry. How about just something simple....a 4-6" diameter piece of PVC pipe cut in half over her ?

It now has areas from stump to just past the main that have small, clear gelatinous substance on surface. I scraped it off and put on some more captan. Wondering if I should just cut the main at this point before it moves further down the main and kills the whole plant???

I have noticed the more I scrape away the gel at my splits, the more it leaks. I am going to let it try forming a scab since it gels over each day during the hot dry time (like dried blood). Good luck, hopefully one of us gets it right. I saw an old post on here and one guy referred to that gel stuff as good for the wound. Not sure if he was right.
