Saw my first svb today. Fried him in mid flight with a blow torch. Handyhomegrown mentioned a product on June 22 grower diary (Bayer Tree and Shrub). What is this and what does it do?? Next question is if it is available in Canada. Thanks!!!!!!!

I hate them little suckers too Joe..lol. Bayer tree and shrub is a systemic pesticide that you drench and/or foliar or both as I did and it absorbs the pesticide (commonly known as merit) into the plant itself to prevent and kill bugs that try to munch on it or lay eggs on it. A lot of people are on the fence whether it works but when I have used it in addition to svb traps I haven't had any svb infestations (me knocking on wood now!!) Not sure if it is available in Canada but it is worth the 20 or so bucks in my opinion!! Erik

The active ingredient is called imidacloprid. It is the same substance that is used for flea control on dogs and cats.I suggest you shop around for your best deal before you purchase.

This will last longer then Bayer.

The best control for the buggers is a multi branched approach. Traps/lures will take out a bunch of them. A systemic such as merit will kill many of the grubs early on. A contact pesticide will kill the rest of the adults.
