I have one that I wasn't sure if it was going to open today or tomorrow. It kind of looked in between last night. This morning it wasn't open but when I came home at lunch, the flower had opened up just a hair there was maybe a 1/2" gap or so. Definitely enough room for a bee to get in but not full bloom at all. I threw some pollen in it but I am not sure what to expect. any one ever had this happen and what was the outcome of the pollination attempt if you did?

My second pollination this year was from a bloom that opened partially in the late evening. I pollinated it and then again the next morning. All I can say is the pollination took.

If it was open enough for a bee to get in when you found it you were too late. I think it should be called an open pollination.. Just my opinion.

Thats fine I don't mind calling it open. No one is likely to want to grow my seeds anyway. :) I am just curious if people think it will take.

I have had it happen in the past almost like part of one side is melted shut (not literally). It took. You can see in the below and where I forced it open from the broken right. Left was open, right wasn't. That was early though so maybe it would have opened all the way.

I had that happen on plant #6 this year and the pollination didn't take.

Interesting Jim. This particular flower was on your 827 that I am growing.

Matt, I have another one on the same plant to pollinate tomorrow and it looks normal so far. All I can say is that I've never seen it in the 811 line so far. I hope the plant works out for you!

Just a FYI, pollinated the next one on 811 plant #6 today and it was perfectly normal.
