A couple weeks a go my wife called me cuz she got stung about 10 times by honey bees. We have a antique barrel in the front of the house and it is now infested. At first I was excited because I would have plenty of pollinators. But unfortunately they are not coming to the patch. I have double digit fruits opening every morning but no bees.... guess its just that kind of year

Are you sure they are honey bees?

....actually...you've prolly done a lot work to the plant so far so don't pull it...when you have flowers ready to pollinate(morning time)... Go out to the barrel and bang on it for a few minutes with a broomstick...that should get the bees movin...ps...after banging for a while, run toward patch...

If your getting the rain like us in PA, that keeps the bees away.

Lol porkchop!
I have a beehive similar to what pendog has but Instead of me beating on the barrel , I just gave the barrel a few good shakes and threw the barrel inside the cab of the truck while the wife was behind the wheel and ask her politely to drive the Bees to my patch. She did a hell of a job, opened the cab door right exactly at the female flower that needed pollinated. Only bad thing is she forgot to renew her prescription for a epi pen.

I keep honey bee's. They will not go to flowers in the vicinity of their hive. Typically 1/4 mile I have been told. I have 4 hives and the bees are never in my yard.

porkchops idea has YouTube gold written all over it. And if quarter mile is the case maybe I should move it out to the woods. My only fear with that is the systematic sprays we put on the corn and soybean.
