This is one of the most "normal" summers I've seen in a few years and, since I grow on gravel ground, the only plant I have left is absolutely loving it and kicked into high gear. The corn surrounding my patch is 6 1/2 feet tall now. I'll bet Quinn is loving it too.

5 minutes of hail ruined my season twice over... I will take rain. No main, and lost side vines. Add that to, too much N... lets just fish Brooks.

Brooks don't I recall you telling me to stop my belly aching back in june 06 when we got hit by that freak tropical storm? It's too early in the season for making excuses get your ass out there and build some sand castles in that quicksand brotha! In 06 I didn't produce any winners but did grow the pumpkin that is the cornerstone of all my howard dill winners thus far. I am sure your pumpkins will kick ass from the natural rain screw the weeds and burying vines there is plenty of time for all of that! Best of luck my friend

Got the same as you jk...just live up the road from you. Had to prop up the mains on my plants to keep them from being submerged in puddles...what can ya do but shake yer head and have a beer and laugh. I wanna know where my hip-waders are so I can go out and do some pollinating this weekend.

I am not sure at this point. Weeds get out of control. Side vines, don't even go there. The forecast shows a chance of rain each of the next 7 days.

It is raining now. I think I need to get a soil test done to see if I have any nutrients left.

Rained every day here but 1 this week.... throw in a derecho bow echo storm moving at a nice 60 mph clip....2 days of sun only....humidity that makes you sweat just standing in it and wearing jeans and a hard walking through muddy contruction sites all week doesn't help the mind. ..yes it is drizzling out there right now..cloudy and now dropped to 68 degrees. Weird freaking week here Boz. Extra Budweiser intake was the remedy.

An inch a day keeps the fungicides coming their way. 1.5" here in northwest ohio tonight, looking at about 5" for the week.

Got 3 inches since yesterday. Corn here has exploded and so has my plants. Luckily Seven is keeping the swarms of cucumber beetles at bay currently. This time last year I was praying for rain, now I'm tired of it lol

It seems like it has rained more in the past week then we got all last year. Hail two days ago but no damage. I have over 1000 gallons of water in the tanks waiting for a dry July and Aug.

I don't have to water my garden, that's for sure. I'm starting my disease control this week, with the wettest May in the history of northwestern Vermont, and possibly the wettest June as well. The level of Lake Champlain is 1 foot below flood stage. Normal for April, but not July 1
I plan on getting soil nutrient tests done soon to determine how much I should re-amend my soil due to leaching. The wet spring also set me back 2 weeks, so no personal best forecast for this year.
A real bummer, man. :-(

LOL Jim!!!! Its rained everyday here since I started this post, and Its thundering and lightning outside as I write this!!! lol!! I couldnt let the patch go any longer! Today I had to bury vines, or I would never catch up, although I hate to tromp around in a muddy patch I had to throw the boards down and get in there and bury my vines. It took me from 230pm until 8pm just to catch up on one plant. I stayed out of my mud hole for 6 days straight .... And to tell you the truth, I need to do that more often! Plants really look good (knock on wood)despite all the rain. Ill never forget the advice Jerry Rose once told me ,just let your plants grow and quit messing with them ,cause alot of the time your doing more harm then good, and hes exactly right.

Ha Ha, What a bunch of whiners. :) back in 1996-97 We had 55 consecutive days of measurable rain in Western Washington. Of course that wasn't during the growing season. Actually it really doesn't rain much here in the summer. Last year we had a 48 day streak without measurable rain.
