Need advice! iv grown for yrs ,but this time the keeper (hopefully) is in tricky spot! Ok so main vine is going to a hill drop-off ,I will build a platform to grow on over the hill, But i will have to sharply turn the main vine after the pumpkin probable 270 degree & maybe like a large trash can lid approx size,, Anyone ever had to turn there main vine like that before ?? How did it work ? Thanks in advanced !!!

hotter the better. when in doubt less is better. I just started moving mine today. The little guy on the left shoulder says: it will bend little further. The guy on my right shoulder says: just one more inch.

No wonder I'm so nuts. Don't listen to me:)

id let the main get at least four ft past the fruit(or area where you must make the turn)---then uncover that four ft area of main.
it will be easier to move in the heat of day.(takes two people to do this)the longer the unburied main the easier it is to turn ---less stress at the bend.
no problem if you do it this way.(then rebury main once the move is complete)
we have done this many times.

Ask Don young...he seems to make some wicked bends.

long vines bend easier than trying to (guide) the main little by litte as it grows i make all my adjustemnts in 5 minutes all at once
like pap says loosen all vines at end of plant and make big swings(meaning use 4-6 feet of vine to curve at a time)
like bending
a long piece of siding or a 10 foot 1 x 4 compared to trying to bend a pencil
ive made sharp bends then changed my mind and culled a pumpkin eveb reversed the same are to make hair pin turn the opposite way. just dont try short bends .do it all at once and dont kink it

some pics during after etc
