Ok, my cover is about a foot tall (I started it late) and is super thick. My question is, do you need to till it in a certain amount of time before planting? And does a cover tie up nitrogen? Thanks in advance!

I read some where that it takes the mycorrhizae time to establish its's self in the soil and by planting something in your patch and adding the mycorrhizae in the soil, there is a good amount of it there ready to attatch it self to the pumpkin roots. Saves the time it takes for it to grow, so it works faster. Makes sense, certainly can't hurt.

Everyone has different challenges in their patch due to different climates, soil, etc. Just because something worked somewhere does not necessarily mean it will work where you are.
