There is a few mistakes with this news report.
Here are the facts.
Dale Oliver did beat the old Australian record of 518 kg ( grown by Ben Surma in 2011 ), with a 638 kg pumpkin.

It was taking by a truck with all the big pumpkins from Northern NSW to the Sydney show this week. For some reason they weighed it at a market where they must have weighed the pallet as well and it weighed 665 kg. But it was weighed at the Sydney show and it weighed 618 kg. ( so lost 20 kg in 4 weeks ) So Dale did beat the Sydney show record of 430 kg which was also grown by Dale.
So well done Dale on growing the new Australian record of 638 kg. ( 1406.5 lbs )
