Really depends on if you have to deliver them...In my experience people don't want to buy what they can't carry. If you want to make money plant winter squash

40-50 pounders sell the best. I get $25 each no problem. Last year I was sold out by 1 October so this year I will plant more. I also give alot away to friends and family.

I sold a couple hundred ag's two seasons ago that were 100-350lbs+ to a local family farm store. I gave him a flat rate of $20 for all my pumpkins and he said he'd take my whole crop. I had to deliver them all though. I made $1,000 that year. I live near Modesto, CA, where are you hammerthrow26?

My buddy and I each grew one right around 300 lbs. last year. After the local fall fair here the largest local grocery store expressed an interest in displaying them. At first they offered 100 bucks each but my buddy (good business mind) made a deal for each of us to get a $150 gift certificate. That way it cost the store less (because of their mark up) and we each got more as we buy groceries all the time anyway. I would suggest some of you might want to try the same approach with your local stores, it's a win win.

I used to sell 5 - 500-600 lbers to a guy who owned a really big international veggie market for $1500 thats 300 a pc.I once had a guy buy 2 kins 600 pders for $1000 plus I threw in a 160 pd watermelon for 100$ more.I sold many a 500 pder for 300$ & up.I guess it basically comes down to what the market will bear each season. Some folks are not interested at all and don't seem to understand the appeal of what these do to bring customers to there store.Take photos with you & show them.Normal pumpkins sell for 30 cents a pound.surely the giants are worth .30 cents a pound.

yes there getting harder to sell.I had a really good buyer who is really well off.He said people are not paying there bills so money is tight. He didn't buy this year.I did trade Yukon in August to the local hardware for 2 bottles of Kushie Kush worth about 100$.Not bad for a split kin and I got the seeds.I sold Jackson Reed for about .34 cents a pound without the seeds.

.39 cents a pound for Buttercup Squash and the yield is better with less time spent..You are not going to make money selling giant pumpkin unless you have them already sold prior to planting. Plant Cinderella, one to many, Red Warty Thing, Queens Land Blue, Pink Porcelain, and other odd varieites to make money.
