GPC – Congratulations
It seems the announcement of the GPC president wasn’t so difficult. Many at the GPC invest countless hours of their time to conduct its business. I’m sure they all worked hard to come to this resolution. A question remains as to why they couldn’t comply with their own bylaws and complete the process in the timeframe required as in Article VI , paragraph 5. Everyone really should take time to read the GPC Bylaws as posted on their website.
Article I defines the name of the organization to be The Great Pumpkin Commonwealth
Article III defines who the members are. (did you weigh a pumpkin at a GPC weigh off)
Article IX defines how the bylaws may be amended. There is one stipulation, the amendment has to be submitted to you the members (see Article III ) in writing prior to the meeting.
Did any member receive a copy of the recent change that extended the term of the president or was there a public posting of the change prior to the meeting? As with the timing of the election of officers the GPC has failed to comply with the bylaws when amending them. Why have bylaws at all if they are ignored or changed after the fact?
This sounds too much like the good old boys club as long as the members don’t vote and it doesn’t need to follow the rules or changes them whenever convenient.
Congratulations GPC.

There's always one in every Club. They get there heads stuck so far up the bylaws. They seem to think that every move taken should be always in prefect order. What TGU fails to realize is that the world don't work like that. That"s why Like the constitution are forefathers knew that they wasn't perfect. There for amendments was made possible. If there was group with a problem ( besides just one with there panties in a bunch)

The only members of the GPC are the registered weigh - off sites. Their nominated representatives are the only ones that have a say in the GPC affairs so I do not understand TGU's continuing chasing of the issue. It is what it is TGU, live with or just forget about it.

Thanks TGU for reading the bylaws and taking the time to post your concerns. The decision to ammend the bylaw was done under: Article V, paragraph 4: The Board of Directors shall have sole empowerment to make and implement any rules, bylaws, or direction they feel necessary to uphold the ideals of the GPC.
If you feel this change is not in the best interst of the GPC or it members, I would be glad to address your concerns in Las Vegas in the general question and answer session, and bring the amendment to a vote of the membership.
Regards John Vincent Vice-President GPC

TGU please explain why this situation bothers you so much, help us understand. As far as I can see unless you run a weigh off this is none of your concern nor does it affect you in any way. Rules affect us but the general consensus is the rules work fine right now. Those concerns can be dealt with by your regional Rep. I had some concerns once and I can assure you they were dealt with in a courteous and profesional way.

Nothing better to do Don...sad really that this person spends so much time trying to churn up issues regarding the GPC when clearly his or her efforts should and could be channeled into something productive.

tgu get a life or go back under the bridge. The gpc has done nothing but help grow the hobby and give a descent set of rules for exhibiting giant pumpkins. Lots of work with zero pay.I appreciate their effort for the hobby and wont lose sleep if dave remain president for 20 more years.

TGU is a trouble maker who has way too much time on his hands. It would be wise to delete his postings.

After reading all of the above posts I think I get it. TGU is Plato reincarnated. Does anyone know who Tigranes was? Here is a clue. I am not referring to the character in Spartacus, Tigranes Levantus. Does anyone else get it? TGU, do you get it?
