adding manure or compost in the fall before freezing is ok but adding anything else is just a waste of money.

winter snow and rains will wash a lot of it away.
wait until warmer weather in april ,etc, to apply ammendments.they will do a better job for your money.

last season we started in late march once the ground was thawed. we added rye grass seed along with myco through-out the whole patch.(as the rye grew the myco attached itself to the roots)---in an overlapping area where the greenhouses would go we also added all the required ammendments.

late april we tilled just the area where the greenhouses would go but allowed the rye to continue growing around the rest of the patch.

once the plant outgrew the greenhouse? we ammended the rest of the patch then tilled under the rye grass.

i think this ws one of the reasons we had the success we did.maximum ammendment available when the growing plant/pumpkin needed it.
