At our traditional post regatta dinner I listened to Steve Daletas tell us about his trip to New York. It occured to me from his tale - how many details and planning have gone on behind the scenes for such an endeavor. I would like to give recogniton to Dave Stelts who from the beginning before there was a formal GPC steering committee said how we needed to find good sponsors for our contests on the national level. Looks like the GPC found great partners with the Botanical Gardens and with Extreme Gardening, to name a few. I would also like to say a big THANK YOU to all of the board members who have given countless hours of their own time (probably some more than others but all still valuable) to further advance the efforts of pumpkin growers all over. So let's all salute Dave Stelts, Jon Vincent, Jim Sherwood, Andy Wolfe, Don Young, Dawn Northrup, Gary Grande, Matt DeBacco, Ian Paton and Eddy Zaychkowsky. Forgive me if I left someone out. There is always more time and effort in planning an event than meets the eye. We are fortunate to have this great bunch of people working for us. Dave Stelts has been wonderful. Sincere thanks to all of you. And thanks Sherry for starting this thread.

Thank you Sherry but the real THANK YOU goes out to the growers who step up every year & support the GPC. If it would not be for all participants of this awesome community to band together under one banner to keep moving forward none of this would be possible.

where would the hobby be without big pumpkins.com and the great pumpkin commonwealth? no where near where we are today for sure. in fact? just look at where the hobby was just ten years ago.now look at it today. in new england for example there used to be one gpc weigh-off (topsfield fair) presently there are many gpc weigh-offs starting with a couple early in ct, leading into topsfield ma and, onto ri the following week. also i believe several between maine and new hampshire as well. this type of growth is directly related to the gpc and its area executives working to promote and built our hobby.
thanks to all of you pap

I don't think most people now how much time Dave puts into this, He was a board member for the OVGPG for 8 years and GPC board member for 8 years. That's 16 years of giving back to the pumpkin growing community. Dave you are the man and a great friend. And I won't to thank the rest of the board fore a job well done

You guys have done a great job and I totally feel the GPC is headed in the right direction. The GPC has grown considerably in the last few years even while the economy has gone the other way. People like getting what they pay for and for the interest level to keep gaining ground, that tells me they are. That is part of listening to not only your membership, but to what the public at large wants as well.
Great job guys. Keep it up. Brett
