Since most of the modern world is using metric measuring systems(not the archaic USA)-should the hobby put emphasis on 1000 kilos as the next benchmark? I say yes

Actually, a metric tonne is 2205 lbs! and I do believe this should be the next benchmark.

You can, however the media here will not "run with it". Too much to explain... To their audience it will be "over their respective heads". Really.

Oh well, it´s such a long time, to wait for another year...to see a 2205 lbs pumpkin hit the scales. ...maybe just half a year, there´s a southern hemisphere to keep us entertained during our winter break.

Exactly.... you have to weigh a pumpkin with 2204.6 lbs to reach 1000kg.

Surely the easiest way to weigh a 1000kg pumpkin is to weigh in kilo's?

From a marketing stand point it would be a disaster in the US if you didn't go by LB, it makes no since to change now we have always gone by LB. The new bench mark should be 2500 LB then 3000 LB
