Handyhomegrown, I can understand the Kushie Kush, but silica (sand)potassium soup, heated to 60 degrees (65 degrees is even better) - from you October 7th diary. I get the need to "cut loose" some times...but are you serious? With all due respect, you don't think that silica is really doing anything, do you? I got a chuckle out of that one, but am I missing something? Thanks, Betsy

You're a hoot Handyhomegrown ~ Smack General ~ I'm in!
Actually, did you get a chance to read the Rutgers Soil profile that Pumpkin Envy posted (think that was the one anyway.) Interesting, especially in regards to powder mildew, but when it comes to putting on late season pounds using silica? And I'm assuming that was your intent? I don't know...think I'll put the money into the college fund for my girls. You know, in the blink of an eye, that Jackson is gonna be looking at colleges...and that dedicated grandpa of his.
Best of luck to you Saturday...and have fun!
Thanks Pumpkin Envy Betsy

I used a lot of potassium from July on thru Sept.I also used 2 gallons of Calcium.I just figured it(silica) couldnt' hurt.Jacksons still doing 5 lbs a day & its 45 degrees out today. We will see Saturday the results. It's all fun,I love to have fun.Plus my soil was 3800 ppm in calcium.Thx Betsy
