Honestly, I learn best by seeing, doing and bouncing ideas off of people in conversation.

This site is awesome because of the free exchange of ideas and suggestions.

I have read tons and tried my best. No matter how hard I try, I still fail, all the while learning even more.

Success, in growing AG's, has alluded me.

I have grown other kinds of pumpkins and veggies; however the AG has almost become my nemsis, mocking me as I sweat and toil on its behalf.

This is why I have decided to try another strategy. I am seeking a mentor.

I want to see an established grower in action and to learn from them. I want to see all aspects of how they approach the hobby. Privacy will be completely respected.

If you have the time and are interested in forming my "orange matter", please let me know.

Thank you for your consideration to my request. :)

Pumpkin Envy you have some of the best growers in the world in your back yard. Come to the Canfield weigh off Saturday at Parks Garden Center. Get on Westerm Reserve Rd and fallow it to Parks. Tim will be the moderator, ask him to hook you up with a guy name Jerry. I live in Bessemer.

GAS, this Dad has a "Fall" party for his girls on Saturday; otherwise I would have taken you up on the offer.

I know there are a lot of good growers in the area with a vast amount of knowledge and talent. I just haven't met any of you. This is partly what spawned my thread. Perhaps this will allow me the opportunity to meet some of you.

I am just unable to make it to any weigh-offs this year. Probably a good thing I didn't grow a big-un. :)

what's the problem with fred? you all don't know him but are the first to slam him, if you met him maybe you wouldn't be so harsh!

I don't know Fred either. I'd be glad to talk to anyone, though.

GAS
look at the posts above yours, I know you're a good person to talk to, I've talked to you at a few weigh offs in the past.

Pumpkin Envy you may be over run with disease pressure.I had a lot of issues till I got the insects off my plants.Thats what the kin cave does,It also allows you to control the temp.& rain & such. You may not want to spend 2 grand to build one.If you know your soil is jacked & right.if your not slowing them down with to much ferts. Then it has to be disease presure.Just trying to help.I have many mentors,we use e-mail & phone to work it out.I used to work for a Danish Carpenter in Palo Alto Ca.He always said"You stop learning when youre dead"I'm not there yet.lol Glad to still be learning LOL!

You need to seek out Jerry Snyder. GAS is correct, he is VERY close to you.
