Sorry this message is a little late but I would like to thank everyone for their support and well wishes over the last several weeks. It has been absolutely crazy since the 2009 was weighed. There will be plenty of time to talk technique and plant stuff later this fall. Once again thank you all it has meant a lot to me and pap.

Best of luck to all growers at the remaining weigh-offs.

Ron

Personaly I think I think it should be the other way around. Our thanks should go to Ron and Dick for all they have done for this hobby and for their charity too. With out Ron and Dick we would not be where we are today. The spin-offs are everywhere for all the clubs all over the world.
Thanks to the Wallace's they are a great team

I think the 2009 will hold the glory. If it was me, I would want it weighed soon as possible just in case something unforseen happens. Mine started rotting 3 days befor weigh off and will not survive another week!! To take that risk with a 2000+ is like going all in in poker!!(great if you win but really really really sucks if you don't get your kin to the show!!! I'm sure there will be discussion about this statement but this is just my view into the crystal ball.

When all is said and done, the part that I liked the most was the fact that Don was able to share the moment with his Dad.

Have a good one as always Don.

i had known for along time that growing a world record was the driving force behind rons efforts each and every year.
i remember back in 2006 shortly after ronnie was first to 1,500 pounds that a new challenge was in the making.
he told me then that he wanted to be the first to grow a 2,000 pound pumpkin.
i hope he is satisfied, but i know sooner rather than later he wont be? ----lol
