Hey guys. I have plenty of seeds from many generous growers. I have a patch which is around 1000sq feet and 2 plants will be growing in there. The question is: Which 2 seeds should I grow? Here are a few:
-1197.6 Matesa -1723 Marshall -1236 Harp -993 Vincent-McGill -980 Fredricks -1375.5 Liggett -1180.5 Matesa -1088.8 Nieuwenhoff -1307 Holub -660.5 Marley -1057.6 Van Hook -1101 Marshall
Cheers and God bless, Ben

I'm not qualified to give advice on which to pick, but the 980 Fredricks has produced some ORANGE beauties this year here in the states. the 1236 Harp had the 1385.5 Jutras as its pollinator and the 1385.5 grew the 1725 Harp. The 1723 Marshall's hierarchy reads like a who's-who of legends...1634 Werner, 1236 Harp, 1421.5 Stelts, 1385.5 Jutras, 998.6 Pukos, 1068 Wallace...plus several other great ones.

1236 harp was a great plant for me last year and that 980 will see alot of dirt next year im sure 980x 993 might make a good cross

I like the 1723 Marshall it put out some barrel shape fruit much longer then the one I ran with.I would try that 1057.6 Van Hook also.

Not sure what your goal is, but if orange, the 993 grew the 1059 Vincent McGill which is one of the better lookers of all time. That could be a good cross with the 980 Fredricks.
If for all size, I say the 1723 and the 1236. Just my 2 cents.

I have grown seeds in my patch for four years, all seeds were considered world class for size. The 980 smoked all of them. Put the 980 in a heavy hitters patch and it would grow a monster.

Jim,
If I do grow the 980, don't be surprised if it doesn't get very big. This will be my first year with good seeds and I don't think the soil is at its best. I'll hopefully get a soil test on the patch tomorrow.
Cheers and God bless, Ben

I agree with Jim, a heavy hitter needs to grow the 980....Ron & Pap are you listening. Heck, I'd even send you the seeds!
