Wanted to acknowledge Dale's two beautiful pumpkins that are once again the stars of the show. I would also like to thank J.D. (our current State Fair record pumpkin holder)for coming all the way up to officiate instead of compete due to the loss his pumpkin early on. We also had the honor of the presence of Steve Deletas and family at our Weigh-off this year which was a very exciting surprise for our small pumpkin growing community. This was a very difficult growing year with lots of challenges and it was nice to still see the pumpkins arrive with their grand entrance. There are still a lot of great pumpkins out there yet to be weigh all over the world and I would like to wish you all good luck and a lot of respect for all your accomplishments. Congratulations to Dale Marshall with the winning 931 lb pumpkin off the 1723 Marshall at the Alaska Midnight Sun Giant Pumpkin Weigh-off. Well done in less than ideal growing conditions. I'll post some pics this weekend of the weigh-off.

i have always been amazed at the commitment dale and jd have shown each and every year.you to spudley.
look at the effort they must put forth just to get a plant into the soil each spring?

I here ya Pap...2 of the finest people from a long long distance from me that I am proud to call friends....their tenacity....spudley too.....is inspiring and has lead me to play bobby fischer against mother nature to. These guys have to strategize with the best of them. I have always admired their abilities to adapt....comes with their territory......fine job again to dale, j.d., and spuds and all alaskan growers for doing what they do....congrats!!!

Wow.. thanks everybody, as you all know if we didn't love growing we wouldn't be doing it.. it's just way cool.. at times it can get frustrating ..and everybody has their challenges.. got some new ideas for next year, can't wait to get started ... wish you all the best at your coming weigh-offs..it's a good time of year ..
