what % heavy is the cat?

id add 2 mice for every 5% heavy the cat is. they will keep him busy and the attacks on the pumpkin should stop.

Metal screen hooked to a battery, or power source.
.
The fur smells like heck, but I haven't seen them around the pumpkins since.
.
.
In fact I haven't seen them at all!?!?

here is the link. the cat must be at least 10% heavy. it was 9.67534329067845675724. i rounded it to 10%. 2 mice should do you just fine. if not, i would use the snapper as a back up plan. If you choose to shoot the cat, id wait until its in front of the 'kin. it blocks the wind.

you could also replace the 2 mice with 1 rat, thats if you use the increase percentage chart, if you go with birds, then 15-20 should do according to the heavy flight% , this is only if the birds have eaten the previous week, and are not molting at the present time you put them down in front of said cat. good luck. if this don't work, snapper it is.

My daughter and I have a good Barn Mouser and we have farrel cats that come in out of the fields at nights If they come in during the day they hear it after it hits em...I put tied off small pouches of Cat Nip about 20-30 ft of the kin in variuos locations. Our cat walks over to around the kin and always veers off and goes crazy over the cat nip pouches...He has no clue a pumpkin is even on the property...I saw my grandpa do this when I was a kid to keep the cats from useing the garden as a litter box, lol..works great Fred, but you could always get a Norweigin Elk Hound, they are bigger than a small horse and snack on cats out of shear bordum. Good Luck

sorry for the rude comment however, when people talk about killing cats it really shows how classless they are.
if you have a blanket over the fruit as was mentioned above how the hell do they scratch the pumpkin? crawl underneath?

we have two cats and have never had one scratch on anything but a few tree trunks.i think this post is just another typical statement geared to getting a reaction/discussion going.

spend your time getting better at growing and you will be better served.

my neighbor has 2 cats that free range, they have never bothered a fruit, and ive never had a mice problem. i hate to say it, but a fitting ending would be a mole hole in your prize.....youll wish kitty was still around.

the rat was a good idea though marley, 1 rat is better than 2 mice.

If you have any critter problems, a properly installed, well-maintained fence is all you need.

I have never lost a pumpkin to cat scratches. Just put a blanket over your pumpkin. Cats get rid of mice, moles, voles, gophers, etc. etc. To kill a cat just because it scratches your pumpkin is crazy. Pete

I saw a red fox vault a 6 foot wooden fence without a hitch....right thru my patch and thru the WiZardnator...like it wasnt there....

and the elkZ they just level a 6 foot chain link....scaled it.....At least for now the elkZ have left......

Like Luke said, I sure hope you didn't just kill a neighbors pet kitty. Get a grip, fast Fred. Killing a cat for scratching your pumpkins (because you didn't have them protected adequately) is a lowlife move & karma will get ya bubba, if your neighbor doesn't first. "A fitting end would be a mole hole in your prize"- couldn't agree more crutch.

I must admit my cat did jump on my sheet covered kin and left some claw holes. It was no HD winner anyway.

all kidding aside, fred, i noticed on your diary entry on 8/21, about the mice and rats, then the next day you post you have a cat problem, this is just a guess, did you put down that decon mouse killer anywhere near or around your pumpkins? if you did, this would attract more mice to the pumpkin, (smelling food) they dont eat it because its just there!
also there is a bigger problem with this type of poison, if a mouse fills up on it and your cat eats that mouse making its way out of the garden, guess who just got that poison in its belly, if you want to save a cat, please do not use this type around pets, even if the cat digests a small amount, it could develope kidney problems later on.

If you put down box tape with the sticky side up, as the cat walks onto it, it will stick to the cat. As the cat struggles, it sticks to them more. When you find the cat, tear off tape and what ever hair comes with it. This is how I keep cats off my cars, garage, porch, etc... when I notice they are coming around.
