So it's my first year at growing giant pumpkins and I was shooting for 500lbs and I was pretty sure I had hit it about 5 days ago and then I found the OTT measuring system today and discovered that I had a OTT of 337 which turns out to be an est 840lbs. Now my plant has some mild powdery mildew and I have some brown leafs but I would say I still have about 85% health in my plant and my stem and main vine is looking great, also the weather is looking good for the next 10 days. If everything goes good is it possible to hit 1000lbs from where I'm at till sept 15th ?

Thanks for any input

Sure you can. Just keep it covered at night with blanket to keep it warm. I'm in the same boat you are and only problem seems to be powdery mildew. What weigh off you going to?

It maybe close to 1000 pds now.Last year my 1592 platte was tapping in the low 900s & weighed 1032 (non official) before labor day.It would of petered out & hit 1200 easily if I hadn't lost it to Mr.Foamy.Keeper her going,Buy some Eagle 20 for that PM works great.

Depends largely in part on how old the fruit is....what day did you pollinate?

The nearest weight off is a long ways away so I'm just doing it for fun and for my nephews. I also have some other pumpkins with 301,278,270,251,212 OTT (NEVER going to plant that many again LOL) I'm gonna plant 3 next year.

Hey 1320, I did a controlled pollination on July 7th so I guess this would be day 48 I think

Great job for your first year. I've been hoping for a thousand pounder for 10 years. Cut the dead leaves off and keep the green going!!!

Ha Ha Ha I Don't blame ya for calling BS cause you can only believe half what ya read on forums and then if it's a new guy you can't believe anything. I said I was a first time pumpkin grower but far from not having a green thumb and I'm a very very obsessive person and I did a crap load of research before I started planting. I don't have the help, equipment or the money to take it that far to the way off but they are having a small fall harvest festival in Montague and I hope to get it there.

Here is a pic if it means anything to ya:

Couldn't wait so I taped it yesterday and got 341 OTT = est 872 lbs but the leaves are dropping as quick as the unemployment rate so I don't think I'm going to hit 1000 unless it goes really heavy. But on a good side note my second biggest is kicking but and it put on about 50lbs in 2 days and is at 309 OTT = est 656 lbs

I've had several pumpkins go 100+ pounds heavy, you're in the ball park.
