Hello all, I'm in the process of doing a little research for a story and I have a weird question. If left out in the elements unchecked, how long will it take for a big pumpkin to decompose? I'm sure that there will be variations for climate and size etc., but has anyone left a pumpkin out after a weigh-off to see what would happen to it over time? How about those of you with time-lapse cameras? Thanks for any help you can give! -Joe

Some last until next spring others go down fast. Really depends on temp, if the cavity has been comprimised..if its in the sun

Once the cavity has been compromised, not very long. I have three you can come watch decomposed if you want, they are somewhere between stinky mush and liquid right now.

YEs have left it out on a pallet....In Colorado...we freeZe, so the pumpkin was covered on the pallet frozen solid...lasted till Spring..then went down fast when it thawed....rabbitZ loved it
