I posted pic's on my CityFarmer site this substance is NOT coming from the stem or blossom...Does anyone know what this might be and if there's anything I can do?

it certainly looks like sapping which is a common occurence with pumpkins that are in the later stages of growth.

i am concerned that such a large amount seems to be around the area where the bottom of pumpkin meets the ground level.
not usually a good sign.this could indicate a problem under the fruit.

suggest you touch it then try and feel around the area to see if the fruit has a soft spot?if it does? your fruit will go down very soon.
if your lucky and its just sap? you can wipe the area with a cloth, the area will be firm and solid, then spray area with some bleach and water.

I have had some bulging areas in the past and one pumpkin that every small splitb would weep snot. Not just the small sap balls....I mean leakers....as if the surface cracking ran into a capillary for lack of better words a little deeper. And as it leaks it forms a molasses like snot. If not dark brown or foamy than you should be fine. Same goo on vineseconday blowouts.....its the sugar water flowing from leaves into pumpkin. Do like pap said...keep clean....mon....itor...sulfur or captan....and keep dry... 10 percent bleach to 90 percent water pat down with napkin or paper towel can't hurt either to further dissinfect

90/10 bleach & water is the perfect mix for decks, house waashing Kins etc.I have used this for years on job sites.Only problem I ever find is people think more bleach is better.I told one friend to do a 90/10 in his attic for mold.He told me he did one better then what I told him.He went straight bleach.LOL! I asked him did you wear a vapor mask?He said no! What a Ma-roon.He does have a lot of health issues mostly respiratory stuff.Bleach is highly toxic please use wisely. You might be a redneck if you spray straight bleach on anything.LOL

My guess is you have a pumpkin with very thick walls. Not sure why the really thick one ooze that stuff but they are kind of a pain to deal with. I have had one of those the last two years and they tend to go very heavy. It ends up becoming a daily routine to pop the blister and add sulfer, dry with fan. Eventually it stops. However, in your case you may end up digging under the pumpkin to treat the spot.
