So, you've got a pumpkin that tapes 1000 lbs but weighs in at 1150.

1150 - 1000 = 150

150 divided by 1150 = 15%

I guess I am backwards on calculating heavy. We do returns different and would take the 150/1000 in Glenn's example.

For Fred, in my business we would do 361-259=102. Take 102/259=39%. You always divide by the original, but I am thinking market returns.

Abacusis the way I go If you grow a kin that tapes 1000 pds but weighs 1200.you slide 12 beads to the right.then pull two beads to the left leaving the 10 in a group & the two to the side ok your 2 beads over the chart thus far.Now take the 2 beads divide the 10 beads you get 20%.LOL!10 divide 2 =5.5 divide 100% = 20% heavy.Or if kin is tapping 985 & weighs 1232 its 247 over the chart 985 divide 247 =3.9 divide 100%=25.6% heavy. So a kin taping 985 that weighs 1232 would be 25.6 over the charts.I'm glad I didn't drop out in the 3rd grade like cousin Jethro!I did fail English a lot though the English police are always kicking my butt.LOL!

Thank goodness you sorted that all out for us Handyman...

Handy, taping 985 and weighs 1232, I would take (1232-985)/985 = 25.07%

I have never been to a weighoff and probably won't with my growing "skills", so I don't know how %heavy is calculated, but thought the above would be the most logical. BTW, I didn't know you were related to the Beverly Hillbillies, that's cool!

Luke -- that looks right to me !! -- also figure 985 x 1.2507 (125.07 %) = 1231.94 lbs so the math seems to check

Though I'd just do it 1232/985 = 1.2507 so 25.07% heavy !!
