So, my granddaughter's pumpkin was cooking along at a steady 15# a day...and no growth at all past 4 days, despite 2" of rain in past three days...no mildew, no bugs, leaves look healthy, plenty of new ones, stem fine, main vine fine, stump fine, feeding once a week, doing nothing new....just stopped at 331 taped. Anyone run into this one? I'm really stumped. (no pun intended)It is covered from the sun, too... thanks!

It could be thickening up on the inside with out showing any increase of measurements on the outside. Your pumpkin could be sandbagging!!!

You made Kathryn feel tons better....good point, we never thought of that! We like the "sandbagging", too! Thanks so much!

possible crack underneath-more likely if fruit has a dill ring

Mine did this last year. It measured out at 650 pounds and stopped. But when I took it to the show it weighed 763 pounds much to my surprise!!! This particular kin was very tough to carve for halloween as was very thick.

If it has deep ribs, it is possible the tape measure was slightly in a rib the last time you measured. I have done that more than once. Then the next time you measure the cc, it will be much bigger than the last time you measured.

No mouse holes going under fruit ?

My fruit seemed to stop growing last year at this time, then started to develop tiny splits a few weeks before the Vermont weigh off. I measured it @750 lbs, and it officially weighed in at 912.

You might want to have a tissue test done, just to make sure that a nutritional deficiency isn't the case.

Good luck.
