I have two good sized fruit that were damaged by a freak hailstorm in mid-July. Both of them have some "craters" from some jagged hail chunks. The skin is clearly broken. One or two craters are almost one inch deep. I am doing my best to nurse them along and keep them dry. They are pretty much full of sulfur and seem to be doing OK. Are these pumpkins automatically disqualified at a weigh-off? Or are they labeled "dmg" ?? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Tom

If the damage does not go into the cavity, then they will be fine.

I had one with a crack in it an inch and a half deep. They couldn't push through shell with a coffee stir stick thingy so it was good!!!

I had one with a questionable spot on bottom, although not through to cavity it was given dmg because they said a hole cannot be more than 3 inches deep or wide.

Remember to wash out that Sulphur or Captan prior to going to the weigh off. People can't resist putting their paws on a Giant Pumpkin and wouldn't want the kids getting that stuff on them.
