Looking for clarification on the points system....

If 100 qualifying growers enter a Pumpkin and 50 enter a squash....does the top squash receive 50 or 100 points?

But people have to enter the MG competition ? is there a minimum of category to enter it ?

No need to "enter", you enter/qualify by having 5 or 6 of the following in the GPC database (weighed/measured at a GPC event)by end of season:
Pumpkin
Squash
Long Gourd
Watermelon
Field Pumpkin
Tomato (early entry permitted)
