I was checking out Andy Wolfe's new 2012 measuring chart and was wondering why at the same measurements there could be a difference of 30lbs or so vs. the older chart?

What am I missing??

the new chart is updated version,, according to the weights and statistics from the last few years weight offs,, i believe ,, that as we as pumpkin growers learn and grow bigger fruits the charts need to be upgraded from time to time ,, to stay current with what we are doing,, just my thoughts curt

The walls are thicker on average so it takes less inches to weigh the same.

So is everyone using the new chart? ya know trying to get a old timer to change isn't always easy. We may have to add 30 or 60 lbs to there est. Ha.

Basically the new chart makes it so 50% of the pumpkins should be over the chart and 50% under the chart. With the old chart more pumpkins went heavy than light because over the years our "goin' heavy genes" have improved.

Ken will be using Andy's new chart this year in the final tally, so all will be the same at the end of the year..... I would use the new chartZ now...and scrap the old ones....
