I don't usually whine about the weather ..but up here it has been chilly ...July our warmest month ..lol .. had a grand total of 3 days 70 or above..with a high of 73.. 15 days 60 or above..12 days 50 or above..our highest night time temp was 56 and the lowest 45 ..then it was rainy or cloudy most everyday .. June was no better and August isn't looking to hot ..

I'm hearing that this is the worst drought since the dust bowl days. Crops here are a wash. As for pumpkin plants:

Very hot June with no humidity. Vine tips burned on a broad scale, even those protected with shade.

Humidity arrived in June with a vengeance. I can't remember the last day below 90 degrees. Out of four plants, I finally got one to set on a main vine out 18 feet after the fastest start in our history of growing. This one grew like gang-busters until a 2" rain blew it at day 30.

One left on a secondary vine and it looks like it has stopped growing. Tissue test came back with great results, but I'm given to wonder just how many consecutive days these plants can go through the shut-down/restart process.

Rodents from the surrounding fields, thirsting for water, attacked my drip tape mercilessly and most of my recent time has been spent either repairing it or replacing it.

On the upside: no foamers and very little insect or disease pressure.

Cant complain here,No rain for 2 months, then 2.5 inches in 36 hrs.But controlling huge amounts of rain can be worse then pumping water to no end.Looks like our August cool down will start tomorrow, slowing the plants growth at night. The upside, it reduces disease pressure & stops the boxers from sticking to my buttocks.I hate that.low to mid 80s all week(forecast ed) lows in the low 60s,which really means 50s around here. Those are city temps.50s not good.

Almost no sun here, grey, cold, wet weather since april.
Rain, rain, wind, wind and cold nights are not ideal for growing big vegts. Greenhouses help a bit.

what the weather is or was is determined by what you get at the scale. Good fruit then the weather was good. If not then it was the weathers fault

Yesterday it was 111 degrees and its been like this for at least for 25 to 30 days. Where I live it hasn't rained for 2.5 to 3 months, all the leaves are falling off the trees, all the grass has died it's pretty bad. My patch has burned up can't take the constant heat, the city has limited are water usage. Kansas 40 miles from water 2 feet from H€LL !!! This weather is the worst in my life time. (22years) lol

Worst heat and drought in my 58 years. We have had 4 more 90+ days this year than the past 4 years combined. And we have a lot more coming for August and September. Farm crops on light soils are toast. Farmers have started chopping corn for silage a month sooner than normal and a lot is just stalk with no grain. In the sandiest fields the corn is actually falling apart.

I think the outdoor English growers have it the worst since they are in the 60's each day and worst non stop rain since the 1800's.

the humidity is the big killer. humidity for any extended period of time coupled with water splashing around? makes for open season on diseases and blights.

Our weather has been sucking big time with drought and high temps. A couple of days ago we got our first significant rain since May. I have to admit this weather seems to have lessened bugs and other diseases, maybe? Another month with an astronomical water bill seems likely.

We made it over 80 for the first time on Saturday Yesterday was over 80 as well. That was our two day summer. Overcast and back in the 60's today. We have had a handful of days over 70 this year.

The weather here has been hot & very dry. Very little rain since early June. When we did get any, it was so windy that it tore up vines & broke off leaves.

SVB have made their way north to our place for the 1st time ever. We dug out over 12 borers out of our vines the past few days, some only inches from the fruit. Growth is slow on the pumpkins due to the borers. We got no one to blame but ourselves for not checking for them earlier. Oh well, there's always next year. Hopefully we'll have one for a weigh off.

Good luck all.
Jane & Phil
