I need help!! I am very slow out of the gate this year, compared to what I read in this forum, but this is only my 2nd year. My problem is I CAN NOT CULL!!! I feel like a muderer! Did not have this problem last year, as plant did it on its own and left my one baby-giant! The one I now have of decent size is about 2 weeks ahead of last year, but I have 2-3 more on vine and am SICK about having to get rid of any!!!! HELP!!!! (Maybe I should just plan on having some REALLY good sized ones for front porch for Halloween!!!!)

Good luck. Close your eyes and cut. Then you can play some bagpipe music, say a few words, then bury them in the compost pile.

Think of aZ itZ going to affect the siZe of your BIG ONE...do you want lotZ of small pumpkinZ...or do you wantZ that first place ribbon at Nick'Z Garden Center? To beat your personal best by major poundage....... I hear itZ going to be quite a weigh off......

OK OK....you will all be proud of me...I culled 3 ...THREE...today. BUT, my one big one has 2 others that are the fasted growers!!! I think I'll send my husband out to do the dirty job. WiZ, would YOU come over and do it???? Also, my big one has slowed to 1-2 inches per day...could the other 2 be the reason? (I know what THAT answer is!!!!) :)On a serious note.....The new growth on the main vine on the big one suddenly appeared to dry up stopping new growth. Could that also be a reason for the growth on pumpkin to slow? (Another reason I am skeptical to cull the other 2...they are growing faster than my big one.) Thanks.
