Subject: pumpkin pulling off vine?

hi, i'm wondering if someone can provide some help please? my pumpkin has a ring around the stem that's a split. is this because it's getting too much water? any help would be greatly appreciated!

Joshua, do you have a pic you can post? Is the vine putting a lot of tension on the stem?

not able to post a picture. i don't think the vine is pulling as the pumpkin split is all the way around the stem :(

Its called a stem split..spray or coat it with a fungicide,keep it dry and hope it does not reach inside the cavity of the pumpkin

A stem split usually runs through the stem. Try to keep it clean and put a fan on it so it stays dry.

you mite need to adjust vine and/or the kin to take the pressure off the vine/stem itself,,, move slowly in the heat of the day,, as more flexible,, lift vine slowly. 1/2 inch or so daily.. till the pressure is off. add something under it as required,, may have to cut a few root nodes to do this ,, but it may save ur fruit,, just my thoughts,, curt
