A big thanks to all her share there passion in there Diary's.I have people tell me I should keep tight lipped & not share my daily success & failures to the public.I don't like the hush hush lets keep it a secret.I dont get it.I'm not superstitious so I dont think sharing my success will hex me either.I also like to look back at last years & learn from my mistakes.I hope people dont think were bragging when were sharing the good days, were certainly aren't when we share the bad ones.I have had my share of bad seasons, where there is nothing to share by August whatsoever.Big pumpkins.com would not be the same without the Diarys. So a Big Fat Thank you to all who participate in the Diarys.Keep up the great posts.

I'm with you Handy, I enjoy the diaries that are well done and that have photos...the diaries with no photos I simply dont look at.

I enjoy your diary, you do a great job of it and look like you have fun with the kids too....thats what it is all about...having fun...and looks like you do.

Question for you, since we are on the topic...do you not bury your vines?? Looking at a photo in your diary from June 30th and it looks like you do not bury vines...do you do it later or at least cover them? Since you are not subject to high winds inside the kin cave...is that why you dont seem to bury vines?

Thanks for sharing/Glenn

I also like the photo diary. I think it would be nice if fellow growers could comment on the page. Maybe we can and I just don't know how!!!

I think the diaries are a good thing. I try to have a little fun with mine along the way.. This is a choice that is up to the individual grower and I respect that.. May all your pumpkins reach the scale..

Diaries are very entertaining and often helpful, as I am a relatively new grower. I think it is great to be part of a large community growers.

My definition of burying vines is throwing a few handfuls of soil enough to bury the upper root at vine/leaf node.I can't get myself to completely bury vines.I have a lot of disease issues & I think this would encourage disease in my patch.I'm also afraid I will find some little old lady out in my patch picking rhubarb one day.LOL!I dont feel complete burying is needed in my case.Even my melons are all tap rooted in.I cant pick up the vines there all rooted in they do this by themselves if soil is loose on the melons.I hear the vines on a melon will rot if buried completely. The only problem I have is after a rain the soil can wash away on the kin nodes, but I feel it still helps the lower root tap in better.I'm not real through on vine burying.I think these plants have ten times more energy then we think,Thats why I'm growing on 500 foot plants.Time will tell if I'm right or crazy like a fox.Thx for asking. The key is keeping them healthy.I think the disease trickles in so we have to trickle back Daily/weekly with all we can but weakly not to heavy.I used to hit them hard & heavy & burn the plants.I think I will shut up now! I'm rambling,LOL!

Handy I love your diary and I also love the fact that you still get such a thrill from growing. Norm, ditto for you too.

The Diary section is my favorite part... and I loved being able to look back at my old photos from years ago when I thought they were all lost but thankfully still on this website!
